📲 Step-by-Step

1. Open the Messages App

  • Start a new conversation, or open any existing one.

2. Take a Screenshot of the Suspicious Message

  • Before using the SmishAlert extension, take a screenshot of the text you want to submit.

  • The screenshot will be saved to your Photos app.

3. Tap the SmishAlert Icon in the App Drawer

  • Scroll through the iMessage app tray just above the keyboard

  • Look for the SmishAlert logo and tap it

💡 Can’t find it? Scroll all the way to the bottom. TIP: If you tap and hold, you can drag SmishAlert higher on the list for easier access in the future.

4. Tap the “SmishAlert” Button

  • This opens the SmishAlert screen inside Messages

5. Select the Screenshot

  • Tap to open your camera roll and choose the screenshot you just took

6. Confirm & Submit

  • SmishAlert will upload your screenshot

  • Within ~30 seconds, the threat level and result will be displayed

  • Results are stored in your main app’s Alerts tab

  • Feel free to navigate away from Messages; a notification will let you know when the analysis is ready

🔐 If You Haven’t Signed Up Yet...

Before you can use the extension, you’ll be asked to register your account the first time:

You’ll need to enter:

  • Your name

  • Company name (optional; use "self" if needed)

  • Email address

  • Phone number

Once you've signed up, you won’t have to enter this again.

Tip: If you sign up in the main app first, you can skip this step inside Messages.

🧩 Notes

  • Each submission counts toward your monthly alert limit

  • The first alert is always free — and will be stored in the main app Alert View

  • The extension uses your shared account data across the app and Messages
