📱 iPhones with Face ID (No Home Button)

  • Press the Side Button (on the right) and the Volume Up button (on the left) at the same time

  • Quickly release both buttons

  • You’ll see a thumbnail preview of the screenshot in the corner

  • The image will be saved to your Photos app

Devices this applies to: iPhone X, XR, XS, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 (non-SE models)

🧲 iPhones with Home Button (Touch ID)

  • Press the Top or Side Button and the Home Button at the same time

  • Quickly release both buttons

  • The screenshot will be saved to your Photos app

Devices this applies to: iPhone SE (1st, 2nd, 3rd gen), iPhone 8 and earlier

💻 iPads

If your iPad has Face ID:

  • Press the Top Button and either Volume Button at the same time

If your iPad has a Home Button:

  • Press the Top Button and Home Button at the same time

All screenshots will be automatically saved to the Photos app, where you can select them when using SmishAlert from either the main app or the iMessage extension.

📎 Pro Tip

Be sure the entire suspicious message is visible in the screenshot — including:

  • The sender’s phone number

  • The full message text

  • Any links or unusual formatting

This helps SmishAlert accurately assess the threat.
