🧾 What Data Is Submitted?

When you submit an alert, SmishAlert receives:

  • An encoded version of the screenshot or image you selected

  • Your name, email, phone, and company (for attribution and team reporting)

  • Your unique User ID (used to associate the alert with your account securely)

  • Any extracted data from the message (like phone number, URLs, or timestamps)

🧠 What Happens Next?

  1. Your screenshot is securely sent to our backend (via Google Cloud)

  2. We process the image using AI to extract key information:

    • URLs, suspicious terms, phone numbers, message content

  3. That content is run through SmishAlert’s detection engine to assess threat level

  4. A response is sent back to the app (usually within ~30 seconds)

  5. Your alert result is stored in your Alerts View for future reference

🧩 What Is This Data Used For?

We use the data solely to:

  • Perform threat detection

  • Display results in your app

  • Improve the accuracy of our detection models (in aggregate)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data or screenshots with third parties.

📤 Will My Data Be Shared?

No — all alert submissions are:

  • Encrypted in transit

  • Stored securely in a private database

  • Accessible only to you and authorized system admins (if part of a managed business account)

In business accounts, your company admin may have access to see alerts submitted by their team — but not beyond that (e.g., they cannot see the actual screen shot).

🗑️ Can I Delete My Alert History?

Not yet — but this feature is on our roadmap. For now:

  • Alerts are retained for your personal history

  • If you wish to request deletion, email [email protected]
