I Didn’t Receive a Result After Submitting an Alert

If you submitted an alert through the app or iMessage extension but didn’t receive a result, don’t worry — here’s how to troubleshoot it.

🧭 First, Check Where You Submitted It

  • In the app: You should see a new alert row in the Alerts tab within ~30 seconds.

  • In iMessage: The result should appear after you submit the screenshot, usually within 30-45 seconds.

🧪 Common Reasons for Delay

1. Network Issues

SmishAlert relies on an internet connection to analyze your screenshot.

  • Make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data

  • Try refreshing the Alerts tab in the main app (pull down refresh)

2. Screenshot Failed to Upload

If the image didn’t fully upload (especially in iMessage), the system may not have received it.

  • Try re-submitting the screenshot

  • If the problem persists, force-close the app or Messages and try again

3. Backend Timeout or API Error

Very rarely, there may be a delay on our server side.

  • Wait a minute or two, then check again

  • Your alert may still appear in the history once processing resumes

🔁 What You Can Do

  • Go to the main app and pull down on the Alerts screen to refresh

  • Reopen the message and resubmit the screenshot if needed

  • Contact [email protected] if the issue happens more than once

🧩 For Business or MSP Accounts

Your IT or security team may still receive a record of your submission — even if you don’t see the result immediately. In some configurations, backend reporting continues independently of app feedback.
